Vermont Food Consulting Services

Vermont Food Consulting Services (VFCS) is operated by Brian Norder, Director of the Vermont Food Venture Center (VFVC) in Fairfax from 1997 through 2010. During that time, he assisted dozens of aspiring vaue-added food entrepreneurs create and expand successful food ventures.

Vermont Food Consulting Services will continue to offer a wide range of food business development services to clients in and out of Vermont. We maintain an affiliation with two other food consulting firms in the Northeast that allow us to collaborate and expand our scope of services to clients whose market is nationwide or worldwide.

Our Services


New Entrepreneur Assistance

Our business start-up program provides an affordable outlet for aspiring food producers. We help people through product development and refinement, food safety, regulatory compliance, packaging and labeling development, marketing and rollout. Services can be phased to minimize the financial risk. Post-startup help in process optimization is also available.

Food Safety Planning and Training
As regulations, hazards and wholesale buyer requirements change, it is easy to become overwhelmed by this area. Principal consultant Norder is certified as both a ServSafe and HACCP instructor and can provide training in these areas. VFCS works with food science departments at major universities to help clients develop safe and efficient processes and can help develop safety plans to meet regulatory and private audit standards. On site inspections can be performed for both food manufacturers and food service operators.

Marketing

Whether your market is Vermont, the United States or the World, we can help devise a marketing strategy to meet your needs. With our associate firms, we can provide highly sophisticated consumer sensory and behavior analysis.


Food Processing Facility Feasibility Analysis

Our team has worked on over two dozen new facility projects in over 15 states and can help your company or organization determine whether a new processing facility is feasible and can help with planning and design.
